Mike Anderson
Head of Growth
Mike is a mathematician and self-proclaimed “data geek” who built the growth engine for several early-stage companies before joining Demex. He is a graduate of West Point and the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business who anchors the team at our DC Headquarters focused on delivering climate resiliency solutions to future cohorts of Demex customers and partners.
Stephen Bennett
Chief Climate Officer
Steve is a weatherman-turned-entrepreneur whose 25-year career includes working for The Weather Channel and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, as well as founding EarthRisk Technologies. Steve’s mission is to bridge the gap between climate volatility and business operations. Steve is a human companion for Demex’s Dog Pound in Raleigh.
Ed Byrns
Founder
Ed is the founder and mastermind of The Demex Group. He has spent more than 20 years working in commodity and weather markets and holds a PhD in Engineering and a MS in Economics. Before Demex, Ed served for seven years as Chief Technology and Innovation Officer of Munich Re Trading. Ed’s assistant, Mr. Darcy, vigilantly protects him from the wild animals that roam the Maryland countryside.
Arielle Catalano
Chief of Staff
With over 15 years of climate research experience under her belt, Arielle specializes in data analysis and interpretation, which she uses to fuel her passion for communicating climate and weather risks. Her steadfast companion, Rafiki, patrols the perimeter of team video calls originating in northern New Jersey.
Hui Chen
Software Engineer
With over seven years as a software engineer, Hui designs and develops the underpinnings of the Demex Solutions Center. His feline companion, Mocha, is known for glamour shots that adorn the walls of the Demex office.

Bill Clark
President & CEO
Bill is a proven technology operating executive with more than 25 years of CEO/CMO/Board experience in identifying unique market opportunities and building industry-leading companies to capture them. As a passionate and results-driven leader, Bill has led game-changing initiatives that have enabled public, VC and PE-backed companies in Silicon Valley and the East Coast to achieve breakout success. Bill has extensive experience in analytics and financial services, combined with a passion for climate science. When he’s not in the office, Bill can be found acing his competition on the tennis court.
Charlie Eadie
SVP for Channel Growth
Charlie brings two decades of leadership experience from the public and private sectors. He is a team builder and business developer who graduated from West Point and completed graduate studies at London School of Economics and King’s College London where he was a Marshall Scholar. Charlie builds meaningful partnerships to deliver climate resilience at scale.
Daniel Falvey
Head of Real Estate
With over twenty years of experience from Cushman & Wakefield, Prism Hotels, and BlackBirch Advisors, Dan joins Demex with a wealth of experience across the Real Estate and Facilities Management sector. He works closely with customers to craft unique solutions and create coverage that is entirely localized and customized to the property level.

Andrew Janke
Director, Quantitative Systems
Andrew brings his extensive and specialized experience in FinTech to Demex. He develops quantitative analytic platforms that integrate multiple technologies and programming languages. Andrew is personal assistant for two cantankerous felines that exhibit a New York State of mind.
Dare Johnson
Sr. Executive Administrator
Dare brings over 20 years of experience being the Gatekeeper for attorneys, engineers, a councilman, and a U.S. Army Colonel. She is a proud HBCU graduate and former cheerleader from Morgan State who holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She is an avid traveler based in DC, where she resides with her husband, daughter, and their adopted Puggle Cupcake who has more Instagram followers than most of her family.
Jenny Kafka

Ken Konecki
Chief Engineer
Ken is a technologist who draws on 30 years of experience in finance to lead our team of software engineers. He architects the Demex Solutions Center and builds innovative products at scale. Previously, he spent several decades in FinTech working at Citadel Investment Group. His canine officemate, Dutch, is pretty darned limber.
Nick Linhares
Director, Business Ops
Nick joins Demex with solid experience in compliance and regulatory affairs. He leads Demex compliance, corporate risk, legal, as well as our relationship with regulatory bodies at the state and federal levels. Nick is part of DC HQ as a transplant from Chicago. He and Ken are fellow Demons and alumni of the Blue Crew.
Bruce Macdonald
Demex Advisor
Bruce’s career has spanned decades in financial services, with expertise in capital markets and commodities. He spent 38 years at Royal Bank of Canada, most recently as the head of the Commodities and Discretionary Capital Group for RBC Capital Markets. Bruce is currently Chairman of the Canadian Depository for Securities Limited (CDS) and has been a member of the Board since 2006. Bruce comes to Demex as an advisor on commodities, risk, and technology.

Madeline McFarland
Communications Associate
Maddy is part of the “connective tissue” of Demex. She spends her time deep in the matrix of internal data analysis and communication systems. She has prior experience in economic consulting and holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and history from Williams College. Maddy is also a graduate student at New York University where she is honing her writing skills.
Stuart Mercer
Demex Advisor
Stuart is the CEO and Founder of Ventus Risk. He contributes decades of industry experience as an advisor to Demex with a unique career that spans both the re/insurance and capital market arenas. Stuart was a cofounder of Validus Re and the CEO of AlphaCat ILS Fund.
Carlos A. Oliveras
Head of Insurance
Carlos brings over 25-years of global leadership experience from within the insurance, brokerage, and reinsurance marketplace. He drives our growth and strategy in property & casualty insurance, reinsurance, brokerage, and alternative market structures including captive insurance.
Matt Perlman
Demex Board Advisor
Matt is a partner at IA Capital Group dedicated to working with innovative entrepreneurs in venture and growth capital investments in the insurance technology and financial technology spaces.
Kieran Scannell
Software Engineer
Kieran is a physicist turned software engineer who appreciates the Demex critical thresholds for cold weather. Hailing from upstate Minnesota, heis building the Demex Solutions Center with the team at Demex World Trade Center.
Taylor Sipple
Head of Product
After seven years at Bridgewater Associates, Taylor joined Demex to lead product initiatives across sales, analytics, and technology. He doesn’t forecast the weather, but he certainly takes advantage of it as an avid skier and surfer. Taylor is also the human-assistant for his buddy Archie who might be an Ewok pretending to be a canine.
Daniel Wypler
Demex Board Advisor
Daniel is Managing Partner at QBE Ventures. He is based in New York and focused on investing in early-stage insurance and financial technology. As an avid snowboarder and mountain biker, Daniel likes to moonlight as a meteorologist on the weekends. Alongside Jenny and Arielle, he is also a Scarlet Knight.

Dan Yokoyama
SVP for Insurance Growth
Dan sits at the convergence of business development, insurance, and data analytics. His background in commercial insurance and business analytics drives Demex to meet the market’s needs for weather parametric-based risk transfer. It’s not uncommon to spot a snout pop up from the bottom of the screen when on a video call with Dan. That snout belongs to Winston, Dan’s friendly standard poodle, and can be taken as a sign of good luck.
Clarence Yuan

With more than five years of experience in sales and marketing, Clarence develops content that explains Demex solutions to clients. His leafy office mate is a trusted travel companion.
