Our team enthusiastically welcomes Ruth Foxe Blader to our Board of Directors. Ruth is a Partner at Anthemis and thought leader in fintech and insurtech. She was a digital change agent at PepsiCo before she joined Allianz Ventures. Now, at Anthemis, she invests in early-stage fintech and insurtech start-ups, including The Demex Group!
Anthemis is no stranger to weather and climate. Anthemis was one of the early investors in the Climate Corporation which went on to be acquired by Monsanto in 2013 for $1.1 Billion.
In a recent Podcast for InsTech London, Ruth highlighted climate resilience as a primary topic for the insurance industry. “It’s one of the first industries that really took a stand because of its massive potential for economic impact. We have so much more data than we ever had before, and we also have the capabilities to process that data more quickly.”
Anthemis is a key partner in our Origin Story. Ruth explains, “Corporates, large and small, need balance sheet protection against non-catastrophic climate risks. Demex is, by far, the most sophisticated solution to this problem existing in the market, in terms of calibrating and transferring climate risk. They will transform how the insurance industry thinks about weather resilience.”
